Chapter Twenty One: Morning Delight
Sokka headed into work the next morning with an empty feeling in his stomach. Iroh probably hadn't found a replacement baker yet so he'd be doing the baking until he did. Sokka didn't mind the old guy, in fact he really liked him. He just wasn't Toph.
He went in through the back door and headed straight to the front to unstack the chairs and give all the tables a quick wipe down. He liked working the mornings before his classes, even though he hated getting up early. There was a quiet he loved before the shop opened while he set up shop and Toph got the morning baking started.
With a sigh he went to the back, he could picture Toph perfectly. She'd be at the table, elbows deep in flour, getting started on the days baking.
"You gonna stand there all day, Meathead or are you gonna say hi?" Sokka shook his head, surely his imagination wasn't that good. He quickly rubbed the sleep from his eyes and looked back, expecting the spot to be empty. She was still there.
"Toph?"
"Sokka?" she mimicked with a grin as she turned to face him.
"But I thought-"
"I came back. My dad changed his mind; I can stay." Sokka quickly pulled the small girl into a hug.
"I really missed you, Toph."
"I was barely gone a day," she replied shoving him off and turning back to her work, but Sokka saw a hint of pink on her smiling face; she missed him too.

Seriously though, I appreciate the faves, really I do, but I hate seeing 10 feedback messages and seeing that they're all just 'so and so added this to their favourites'. I spend a lot of my free time (time that in all honesty I don't have) to write these stories for your entertainment. The least you could do is leave me a comment telling if/what you liked.
*sigh* end rant, but really people this is something that greatly annoys me. I leave comments on just about everything I fave, it's really not that hard.
